Being shocked and amazed on the things we learn of what molded this and that of today is surely a fun and exciting thing to experience. In this article we are going to discuss a bit of Irish American culture and things of what made this culture what it is today.

I am pretty sure that you know about Saint Patrick’s Day. A day celebrated in New York every March 17 every year and has been celebrated in New York long ago since in 1762. However, some of you may not know that saint Patrick is the patron saint of Ireland. So, why is Saint Patrick’s Day celebrated? Well, we are here to find out just that.

Saint Patrick’s Day is a commemorative event that was held by the Charitable Irish Society in Boston in about 1737. Since then, this day has been celebrated nationally and has observed primacy as an ethnic celebration. A parade takes place to commemorate this said event. This has been crowned as one of the largest parades that happen in America which travels from the Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and then passes by the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. If you ever had the chance of joining this said parade then you might notice that all of the props, costumes and the shirts of all the people are all colored green. It is colored green because the national color of Ireland is green. Of course, let us not forget the delicious cabbage and corned beef which are dishes synonymous to celebrating this day. As you can see, Saint Patrick’s Day has a great Irish American culture which is still being observed today.

Irish American culture can also be seen in America and the best part is, though in the past there were struggles, their ties are quite great now and has great meaning to them. Of course, they may have the so called, passionate love for America just like any other Americans but they have still the so called honor and pride of the Irish heritage.

As you can see, Irish American culture is quite rich in America and I am pretty sure that some of you did not know about this but for sure, after reading this article, you have learned a thing or two about the great Irish American culture and how it has been molded to what is now.
