A BIT OF KOREAN CULTURE AND ITS SPECIALTIES

One of the most fascinating and quite interesting cultures around the world is the Korean culture. Furthermore, this place offers not only peace and comfort but also harmony that will surely bring ease in your heart especially when you know a thing or two about their culture.

Let us discuss a bit of history of Korea. In the World War II era which happened in about 1945, Korea was divided into two nations, namely North Korea and then South Korea. Formerly, before Korea was divided into two nations, Communism ruled the land but in the latter it did not. North Korea is also known as the “Democratic People’s Republic of Korea. On the other hand, South Korea is known as the “Republic of Korea” which, when we talk about population and size is the larger compared to North Korea. When this division began, Korea was then at war and even today, both this countries that were once united are still at it. Furthermore, the male population is obligated to sign up and register for army training when they come to a certain age. Also, some men even quit schooling because of this undertaking.

When it comes to the language of the Korean culture, Hangul is the language spokenboth in North and South Korea. Because they were divided, some Hangul words have different meaning in each country but, nonetheless, they can still understand each other quite well. Hangul belongs to the languages that are easy to learn this maybe why Korea has such a high literacy rate compared to other countries.

When it comes to religion of the Korean culture, there are two major beliefs followed by the populous living in Korea. Buddhism was the oldest religion that existed in the south but after a while was declined by many after Christianity came to the country. Long ago, when the king heard about this and considered it as a threat and Christians were persecuted. In the 19th Century, Protestants came toKorea, and in today’s time, has one of the largest churches in the world.

The Koreanculture today may have been divided into two different countries but, as you can clearly see, they both have the same roots and language; though in today’s time they are still quarrelling but, hopefully, someday soon they will be united again, the way it should be.
