AMERICAN CULTURE: HISTORY AND WHAT IT IS NOW

As we know, America is a really developed country and is one of the most technologically advanced countries in many fields. Furthermore, America is quite a fun place to be with lots of tall buildings and great sights to see. Of course, America would not be called the United States without the events that happed long ago that has eventually molded American culture to what it is today.

Long ago, America is not united as you have imagined. Many states long ago were independent and were living afar from each other. Many wars had occurred that eventually molded America to what it is today, a United States.

Furthermore, America has experienced much discrimination even amongst them.  Long ago, African-Americans, also known as Blacks, were discriminated by Americans, known as the whites. When it comes to the relationship of African-Americans and the pure Americans, though their still exist racial discriminations till today, it is nothing compared to what the African-Americans has suffered long Ago. They were literally stripped of from their rites and they were treated less than human. Without the movement of many African-Americans, just like Martin Luther King Jr.,America’s people will surely still be a very detached from each other.Today, as you can see the white and blacks are more united, though discriminations still exist, it is more in the minute level and you will likely get detained if you do it.

It may not look like it but America has quite a diverse culture. As said before, there are African-Americans but there are also Irish-American culture that exist. When it comes to the Irish-American culture, St. Patrick’s Day is one way to commemorate it.Saint Patrick’s Day is a commemorative event that was held by the Charitable Irish Society in Boston in about 1737. Since then, this day has been celebrated nationally and has observed primacy as an ethnic celebration. A parade takes place to commemorate this said event. This has been crowned as one of the largest parades that happen in America which travels from the Fifth Avenue in Manhattan and then passes by the St. Patrick’s Cathedral. If you ever had the chance of joining this said parade then you might notice that all of the props, costumes and the shirts of all the people are all colored green. It is colored green because the national color of Ireland is green. Of course, let us not forget the delicious cabbage and corned beef which are dishes synonymous to celebrating this day. As you can see, Saint Patrick’s Day has a great Irish American culture which is still being observed today.

Still, there are really tons to know about America’s culture. Mind you, we haven’t discussed yet the Mexican-American culture. Still, as you can see, out of all the modern things you can find in America, its culture surely is rich and without it America would not be America today.
