DIP YOUR TASTE BUDS ON GREAT IRISH FOOD

Irish cuisine seems to be tantamount with two dishes of cabbage and corned beef and of course, do not forget about the Irish stew. However, if you were to travel to Ireland, you will find that these types of dishes rarely appear on menus in a restaurant. Why? If you are looking for Irish food then corned beef is not one for it did not originate in Ireland. However, cabbage and bacon is one thing you can find in a traditional Irish dish.

Listed below are great dishes that are truly Irish food and, for sure, you can find them in traditional restaurants in Ireland.

Cabbage and Bacon
As said before, this is a great Irish food and I am pretty sure that you got used on Bacon and Eggs in the morning. Well, in Ireland a great food you can try is Cabbage and Bacon. Of course, this is not the usual bacon you fry and then eat. This delicacy is made by boiling bacon with cabbage. The bacon used in this dish is actually “back bacon.” Usually, this dish is paired with potatoes and/or turnips and spiced up even more with parsley and sauces.

Soda Bread
Though it has gained it has gained an unsavory reputation in Ireland but it is still a great dish. A type of bread that uses baking soda instead of the traditional yeast for its raising agent. It basically has the same ingredients as the usual bread but it differs only from the rising agent. This dish is often used as a side dish for many restaurants in Ireland.

Fish and Chips
You can find this dish basically all over the world which may come in the form of snacks and ready to cook packs. This dish started and was popularized in the United Kingdom a very long time ago, about 1800s. Basically a fast food dish made up of fish such as haddock or cod, coated with breadcrumbs and fried. Great if paired with fried potatoes either in the form of strips chips or bits.

Bangers and Mash
This dish actually came from England but it became very popular in Ireland. A type of dish consisting of beef sausages, mash potatoes and flavored pork and is served with rich and savory onion gravy. A great side dish for this dish fried onions.

If ever you have plans to visit Ireland do not forget to try your taste buds on great Irish food that will surely complete your Ireland escapade.
