Ancient Italy


Italian or Roman civilization is one of the oldest civilizations of the world. Ancient or classical Italy has a rich history of art and culture. Ancient Italy can be divided into four eras - prehistoric, Etruscan, Greek and Roman.



The first era for which historical records, in terms of civilization were found is the Etruscan era. The Etruscan era began sometime in the pre-historic time and had its existence until the emergence of Roman era. Etruscan civilization is the modern English name, which refers to the culture and way of life of 'Etrusci' or 'tusci' people of ancient Italy. After the Etruscan people it was the turn of the Greek to reign Italy. The foundation of Rome was the most significant and influential event in the history of Italy. Rome was founded in 7th century B.C and from there on began a glorious journey of a great civilization.
